  • 1.  Property & Liability Insurance for our Church

This post may be more for Colorado area but thought I'd throw it out there. We are a small church in the foothills of Colorado. This area has been rated a "high fire danger area" We are currently insured. We have been approached by a local resident to run an independent daycare out of our church. There is a huge need in the area for this and we are considering it. We checked with our current insurance company and were told if we did allow the daycare they would not continue to cover us. So, we have started to search for a new insurance company and have not had any success, not because of the daycare but because of the high fire danger area rating. Any recommendations? Thanks,

In Florida insurance companies will not write/sell a policy if there is a potential disaster/named tropical storm/hurricane.  Your fire status sounds like it is a similar status and could be lifted once the potential disaster status is lifted - hope this helps --

You may not be able to switch insurance companies because of the high fire issue. However, what may be a possibility to check into is having the person who wants to do the day care may be able to get independent liability insurance for the he day care alone. I don't know if it's even possible, but it may be worth checking into.

We have Lutheran Trust as our insurance broker here in St. Louis, MO. This year they were able to present us with two insurance companies for our coverage, GuideOne and Church Mutual. Here is the link to their website: https://www.lutherantrust.com/about/
