We're also a smaller congregation (150), in a rapidly growing area. We're starting to become more active in community outreach. We've helped with volunteers at several community social events, and at a local public school. But the most common response in first time conversations is "Oh, where's your church at?" Obviously we have a long ways to go! But our community's CDD and local schools have welcomed us so far. Providing volunteers and making small monetary donations seems to open doors.

Subject: Ideas about raising the awareness of our church in a growing community.
We are a smaller congregation in a community that serves as a bedroom town adjacent to a large city with a number of governmental agencies which has been and is transferring in workers for the aerospace and technology sector. There is certainly a number of Lutheran transplants in this situation. Our challenge is to raise the awareness of our LCMS church for these newcomers. So what are the most efficient ways to do this? We are very involved in community outreach projects and have a strong record as such, but more is needed to reach the potential folks looking for a LCMS church.
