We want to hear from you on Shareboard!

    Hello LCMS Lay Leaders:

Shareboard launched more than 18 months ago, and every week we are seeing new LCMS lay leaders sign up to use the platform. We have more than 500 users, and it's wonderful to have new people join to view the resources and conversations that live on our platform.

What's missing from Shareboard, though, is new conversations and resources! The platform has gotten quiet lately, and I'm pretty sure that's not because all LCMS lay leaders have it all figured out now! I encourage you to post any questions, knowledge or resources you would like to share with other LCMS lay leaders. Through Shareboard we can all learn from each other!

Thanks for being on Shareboard, and please don't be shy to post! Your questions and knowledge can surely help others - and yourself!

    Dave

We are considering revising our Christmas Eve Service times.

We have been using 7 PM and 11PM Service times for many years. Now that our congregation is getting older, we are looking for dropping one of the services and adding an earlier service. Has anyone got a track record of using different times? good or bad experiences?

    Blessings in Christ!

We are a small mission church and we hold a Christmas Eve service at 4:30 pm. Families and older adults alike appreciate the time. It is also dark enough by the end of the service to sing "Silent Night" by candlelight!

In the past we would have 7 & 10, then 5 & 8. In the past couple of years the 8:00 service had low attendance, (congregations getting older) so for the first time this year, we are just going with one service at 5:00.

We still use 7:00 and 11:00 pm as our Christmas Eve service times. The earlier service is better attended. I think we should consider an earlier time to make it easier for families to attend and safer for our older members.

Our current Christmas Eve times are 3 pm and 9 pm.  The 3 pm time is most popular because it allows people to attend prior to getting together with family before Christmas Eve dinner. We too have an aging population who would like to get home before it's too late. We have revised times earlier through the years when we originally had service at 9 pm and midnight. A few years ago we had a 4 pm time but that seemed too close for people going to family gatherings.

We use 4pm and 7pm for Xmas eve services. We have used these times for many years and both are well attended.

We are a larger church but our 3:00 and 2 at 5:00 (one contemporary and one traditional) are most popular and just behind the 7:00 pm.

11:00 is communion and given our demographics the least attended.

I say go for an earlier afternoon time.

For the last couple years, we have gone to a 4pm family friendly service (no communion) and a 10pm candlelight service with communion.  This has worked well for us!!

We've been doing 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm the past few years and both services have about the same number of people attending.
